Rather than discarding timber with heavy insect activity, these vases are turned from wood originally destined for the fire heap or the barbecue pit, reclaiming it and transforming it into small, singular works of art. By intentionally highlighting the intricate natural tunnels and holes carved by wood-boring beetle larvae, the design takes what many would consider a structural flaw and elevates it as a stunning testament to the organic art of nature.
Because the natural boring patterns, rich grain swirls, and deep bark inclusions vary from one block of mesquite to the next, no two vessels will ever be alike. Please note that these artistic pieces are intended strictly intended to hold dried florals, pens and pencils, or to stand alone as sculptural accents, as the natural openings mean they cannot hold water.
